Composites:

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Composites group is made up of three separate SBU: Foams & Tapes, Coated Fabrics, and Specialty Films – each providing technically distinctive polymer films, foams, coated fabrics and pressure-sensitive tapes used in today’s most challenging markets. Composite material products are used in virtually every industry area – from Aerospace, Energy, Food Processing, Pharmaceutical and others.
Foams&Tapes SBU provides practical, cost-effective solutions for bonding, sealing, acoustical and vibration damping, sound proofing, as well as thermal management applications. Our technology is focused on diversified foam substrate like PVC,
PUR, PE, Silicon, as well as pressure sensitive adhesive. These high-performance foam tapes are widely used in automotive, construction, energy and electronics. Meanwhile we study a variety of tapes with high performance film substrate and acrylic, silicone, or natural rubber adhesive systems . Our well-known product are used in applications from plastic heat sealing to electronic assembly and fabrication to wire and cable to general purpose

Coated Fabric SBU has offered PTFE-coated fabrics, PTFE-fabric laminates and silicone coated fabrics. CHEMFAB® non-stick solutions was recognized worldwide for its over 40 years of product and process development experience. We has successfully promoted coated fabrics product in consumer applications for food processing, electronics, photovoltaic, environmental and energy, and in industrial applications in polymer processing, packaging and textiles.
For instance, Chemlam® PTFE fabric laminates combine all the resistance properties of advanced fluoropolymer films with the mechanical strength of fiberglass fabrics. Sheerfill® architectural membrane used in permanent structures is available in various strengths and light transmission levels.

Specialty Films SBU provides broad line of high-performance polymeric films and membranes via extrusion, casting, coating, laminating, sputtering, and surface modification etc. diversified processing techniques. We utilize a full range of polymers -- including EVA, polyolefin, PET, PI, ETFE, FEP, PFA, MFA, ECTFE, THV, PVDF, PTFE, and proprietary blends to deliver the right combination of temperature, chemical, release, low friction and dielectric performance in a variety of key applications such as PV, Automotive, electronics and life science etc.

Fluid System:

Our Fluid system SOA includes two sub-business units: Process Systems and Healthcare that focus on the Health, Industrial, Food & Beverage, Transportation and Specialty Products markets. We utilize our core capabilities in polymer materials formulation and compounding, combined with extrusion and injection molding expertise to develop innovative and technologically advanced Silicone and Polymer Products. We market several famous brands, like Tygon®, Sani-Tech®, Chemfluor®, Reseal®, Flexible Components etc., which have been chosen by our customers all over the world.

Process Systems has a long-established history and reputation in providing innovative product solutions--flexible tubing, gaskets & seals, hoses & fittings, and pumps, valves & manifolds--through a broad range of customized materials and capabilities to help customers achieve safety, performance, and brand assurance in a variety of markets and applications from aircraft interior components to food and beverage processing to semiconductor chemical transfer.

Process Systems has a long-established history and reputation in providing innovative product solutions--flexible tubing, gaskets & seals, hoses & fittings, and pumps, valves & manifolds--through a broad range of customized materials and capabilities to help customers achieve safety, performance, and brand assurance in a variety of markets and applications from aircraft interior components to food and beverage processing to semiconductor chemical transfer.

To support the local market and global business, FLS R&D Shanghai team focus on the new product development, material technology buildup, processing capability extension and customized application test:
  •  Buildup material knowledge of TPE and silicone by developing new products.
  •  TPE processing: mixing, compounding, multi-layer extrusion, molding etc.
  •  Silicone processing: customer compounding, calendaring, molding, curing etc.
  •  Simulation on tubing unique performance like kink resistance, inflation and deflation
  •  Customized application test: pump life, burst, extractable, chemical compatibility etc.

Engineered Components:

The High Performance Bearings group is a global division supplying high volume international OEMs in various markets, including automotive, consumer and industrial.

Backed by the proud heritage of product innovation, technology, advanced material and market leadership, we are dedicated to working with our customers using our engineering expertise to deliver standard and custom solutions in NORGLIDE® plain bearings, NORSLIDE® cable liners and compounds, RENCOL® tolerance rings, and RULON® bearings that meet the most demanding automotive and other industry applications.

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics' Seals group is a global leader in designing and manufacturing high performance seals and polymer components. We serve various markets with our proprietary material grades, including Fluoroloy®, Meldin®, Rulon® which feature custom formulated blends and alloys of high performance polymers including fluoropolymers: PI, PEEK, PPS and UHMWPE. Our materials can be continually used from cryogenic to +600° F, from vacuum to 50,000 psi pressure, 10 to 30+ years life and meet several industry specifications (NORSOK M710, ISO 15848-1, Shell Mesc SPE 77-312 and ASTM).

We serve several energy sub-markets and provide multiple innovative and leading edge solutions throughout the hydrocarbon value chain, wind energy and hydro energy. Our seals and components have been regularly used and specified over the past several decades in a wide variety of valves, loading and transfer systems for liquefied natural gas, turret swivels in floating production storage and offloading vessels, subsea equipments, compressors, pumps, drilling tools, planetary gearboxes for wind turbines and others.

ENC R&D team in Shanghai focuses on technologies in terms of material science and engineering, new product development, new process development and application testings. The team setup technology platforms in terms of following aspects.
  •  Fluoropolymer processing including compounding, granulation, molding, sintering etc.
  •  Unique fluoropolymer characterization as well as material specification.
  •  Failure analysis and competitive analysis for Seals and Bearings.
  •  Tribological testing including basic and various specific application testing.
